WASHINGTON, DC (October 6, 2005) — Individuals interested in changing careers and becoming teachers in Idaho are invited to participate in free online Teaching Information Sessions, now offered by the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (www.abcte.org) on October 12 & 13, 2005.
The sessions will feature a short presentation about Passport to Teaching as well as a live question and answer session with American Board staff members. The first session will be held October 12, 2005 at 7 PM (MST) and the second will be held October 13, 2005 at 6 PM (MST).
WASHINGTON, DC (August 23, 2005) — Approximately 59 percent of candidates for the Passport to Teaching certification might not have pursued teaching if the program were not available, according to a recent survey conducted by the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence.
The survey—compiled in August 2005 from the responses of 65 candidates for certification—highlights the importance of individualized preparation for career changers who want to teach.
WASHINGTON, DC (September 14, 2005) — Dr. Kathleen A. Madigan today announced that she will step down as president of the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (www.abcte.org), effective September 30, 2005.
Madigan will continue to serve as a senior advisor to the organization and as a member of the ABCTE board of directors. ABCTE Chief Operating Officer David W. Saba will lead the organization until a new president is named.
Madigan says she leaves the office with great pride in the American Board’s accomplishments and with deep gratitude for having had the opportunity to lead the organization as it developed a premier national alternative route to the teaching profession.
TAMPA, FL (September 12, 2005) — The School District of Hillsborough County will hold Information Sessions on October 3 and 4 for professionals who want to change careers and become teachers.
The events, which will take place in Tampa and Seffner, Florida, are being organized in cooperation with the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (www.abcte.org). At the sessions, attendees can meet with Hillsborough officials and American Board certification counselors to discuss how they can earn their teacher certification.
