But the majority of our candidates finish the program much quicker than that. The average time period from enrollment to certification is just seven to 10 months. American Board graduate Corey Nordike, a math teacher in Missouri, finished the program in just four months.<\/p>\n<p>Corey began his program is March 2016 and certified in July 2016. He had a job in less than a month and started teaching in the 2016-2017 school year.<\/p>\n<h2>Watch Corey&#8217;s Story<\/h2>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LLMKUDiqdMg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h2>In His Own Words<\/h2>\n<div>Corey also had this to say about his experience in the American Board Program:<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>I had worked around children before and knew, deep down, I was meant to teach.\u00a0 I did not have the funds to return to school nor did I want to.\u00a0 I had just graduated.\u00a0 While researching alternative pathways to certification, I came across the American Board and immediately knew the program was for me.\u00a0 It was 100% self-paced and the cost was less than a semester of college.<\/p>\n<p>I completed the program within a few months and just in time for the new school year to begin.\u00a0 I had zero issues finding a teaching position within my desired school district.\u00a0 I had great support from my principal and academic instructional coach.\u00a0 In my opinion, there is no college course that is going to prepare you on how to manage and run your classroom.\u00a0 Not all children are the same.\u00a0 Researching new strategies and implementing what works for your kids and tossing out what does not is key.\u00a0 American Board opened doors for me, but it was up to me to push myself to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>My first year of teaching, I was nominated for teacher of the year.\u00a0 I was also offered a team leader position for the following school year.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been teaching for a few years now and could not be happier with where I am.\u00a0 I look forward to going to work each day because each day is different.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>I cannot imagine not working in education.<\/em><\/span> \u00a0I&#8217;m about to finish my master&#8217;s degree and plan on obtaining my doctorate soon after, all paid for from a teacher fund at my school district.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>I owe it all to the support of my family, my perseverance, and American Board&#8217;s teacher certification program.<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Thank you to American Board graduate Corey Nordike for that fantastic information!
