Getting Back IN School

It’s no secret that students need to be back in classrooms—now. In fact, all major organizations responsible for tracking youth growth and development, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, agree that in-person education is the best option. Of course, we all want to ensure that we take steps to make schools as safe as possible. One step in the right direction includes vaccinating teachers — quickly!

Steps to In-School Success

Teachers, eager to be back in the classroom full-time, are lining up for the COVID-19 vaccines. States are prioritizing health-care workers as they roll out vaccines, but in many states, teachers are not far behind. Vaccinating teachers remains a key priority for education leaders.

What States are Vaccinating Teachers

As with the vaccine rollout in general, each state is moving forward at different speeds. Some states are allowing teachers to get vaccinated now! In other states, vaccines are available for teachers over the age of 50 or teachers living in high-risk areas. Yet, in about half of states, teachers are not yet eligible for the vaccine.
