An American Board Alum Shares His Story
The American Board has certified over 6,000 teachers across the country in the last decade. With so many educators in the field holding an American Board certification, we thought we’d check in on some of our alumni to hear their stories. Below is part four of our American Board Alumni series. Read parts one, two, and three here.
Candidates of the American Board alternative teacher certification program have one year to pass their exams and earn their certificate, allowing them to secure a teaching job in their state. But many candidates finish the program quicker; the average time period between enrollment to certification is seven to 10 months. One candidate that completed the program quickly is Corey Nordike.
Corey is a 6th grade elementary education teacher in St. Louis, Missouri. He began his program is March 2016 and certified in July 2016. This enabled him to secure a job and begin teaching in the 2016-2017 school year.
Corey shares his experience with the American Board in the video below.
Thank you to Corey Nordike for that fantastic information! If you are an alumnus of the American Board and want to share your story, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
